I wasn’t born on an ashram in India or a commune in California.  I began this life at Carle Hospital and grew up on Green Street.  My family roots reach to the 1850’s in the fertile soil of Champaign County.  I enjoy cheeseburgers, beer and Illini sports.    I am just a regular guy who “discovered” yoga at 59.  I began practicing yoga in 2009 on a Wii Fit in front of the TV as part of an exercise program to lose some weight.   I attended my first group class in the summer of 2010 and within 15 or 20 minutes  “knew” that yoga would become a very special and important part of my life.  I’ve been practicing almost daily ever since.

I’ve had the privilege to practice and study with several inspirational and gifted teachers, each sharing their unique gifts and loads of encouragement.  I completed YogaWorks Teacher Training and received Yoga Alliance RYT-200 certification in June 2011.  I share my yoga in the Champaign-Urbana / Danville area.

I believe in self-forgiveness and the healing it nourishes.  I encourage everyone to relax, set worries aside and embrace inner peace daily.  We practice yoga to tone the body, quiet the mind and silence our ego so we can know the truth that resides deep in our souls.   Practice, patience and acceptance guide the way. Identifying, acknowledging and dealing with those things we do not want to face can be overwhelming.   Learning to deal with these burdens and letting them go is possible with diligent practice and meditation.  Let’s do it together; sharing courage, strength and energy.    Namaste, Jim
