Soyee

Soyee loves water. In 2011, she dove into the waters of Yoga. She splashed around on the surface at first, enjoying the refreshing feeling in body and mind after a good practice. Then, curious about the energy and joy she experienced from her practice, she swam deeper into the ocean, incorporating meditation into her practice. She spent one year in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia practicing Ananda Marga yoga, kaosikii and Kirtan with Dada Shuba. She has continued exploring deeper ever since, completing her one-year 200 hour CYT program in 2016 at the Living Yoga Center. Guided by teachers such as Mary Wolters, Daren Friesen, Rich Logan, Shanna Linn, and Wade Gotwals, Soyee sees the wealth of multidimensional intelligence of the self that yoga develops for anyone who wants to explore, simply by building awareness of the self and connecting with the breath.

Teaching since 2015, Soyee draws her inspiration from the physiologically informed movement of Gary Kraftsow’s Viniyoga, the creative and elementally attuned sequencing of Shiva Rea’s Prana Vinyasa, and the whole being (mind, body, spirit) approach of Aadil Palkhivala’s Purna Yoga. In her previous career as a climate and geophysical scientist, she was driven by translating quantitative findings into simple and compelling visualizations that could be accessed and understood by all, as well as traveling to and connecting with the local communities in study areas. As a yoga teacher, Soyee creates an accessible and supportive atmosphere to inquire within and challenge the physical, mental, and spiritual self.  Laughter, singing, and dancing are encouraged!

Soyee enjoys traveling, Latin dance, music and singing, and swimming. To her, these are forms of human connection and connecting with Earth.  She is often seen drinking a cup of freshly steeped tea. Connect with her at https://potofyoga.wordpress.com/ and @steepingyogi (Twitter & Instagram)
